My team and I worked with designers and engineers from the Johnson Space Center in Houston to redesign the suitlock portion of the lunar lander set for launch in 2020. We began by discussing current design solutions with the team at NASA and narrowing in on specific areas for potential design improvement. These final concepts increase the habitability space inside the lander, vastly improve the ergonomics of the astronaut’s donning and doffing of the space suit, and allow for greater visible feedback cues which make it easier for the astronauts to return to the hatch safely and efficiently.

During our time in Houston at the Johnson Space Center, we were able to experience a few NASA research tools such as this suit glove grasping zero-gravity chamber.
